The TI-5000JX is a servo motor feedback tester product which is used to test the encoder or resolver that is used on a permanent magnet brushless AC or DC servo motor. Servo motor testing and troubleshooting requires the confirmation of certain key parameters.

There are many reasons a servo motor may stop working. In many cases the servo motor can be easily repaired, and in other cases the servo motor may not even be broken. It is necessary to test the servo motor feedback device, verify proper counting, and check for the presence of encoder error codes.

Many serial encoders have memory that contains important parameters used by the servo motor drive such as the servo motor commutation offset or encoder alignment angle. The encoder alignment is very important in the servo motor test and servo motor repair process. Most servo motor repair jobs require that the encoder is removed from the servo motor.

When reassembling the servo motor, it is critical that the encoder is properly aligned. Encoder alignment is achieved very quickly and easily by using the TI-5000JX Feedback Test System and carefully adjusting the alignment of the encoder. The TI-5000JX serves as a servo motor test product in that it can be used to diagnose, align, read, and program hundreds of different feedback types, such as incremental encoders, absolute encoders, serial encoders, and resolvers.

Regardless of the servo motor manufacturer, encoder manufacturer, or resolver manufacturer, supported servo motor feedback devices can be tested and the alignment can be checked using a similar, consistent and standard procedure.
